Searching Facebook Marketplace
Facebook Marketplace is a great source for finding available rentals in your area with their robust Property Rental marketplace category and ability to easily filter by location, property features like bed/bath count, and much more.
Here’s a step-by-step guide for how to search for properties on Facebook Marketplace:
Start by navigating to Facebook.com and logging in if you aren’t already.
Navigate to the Marketplace tab.
Navigate to the Property Rentals category.
Make sure your location filter is accurate and set your mileage range to a number you’re comfortable with based on the area you are interested in.
Use the built-in filtering options to narrow your search by number of bedrooms, bathrooms, or property type (apartment/condo, townhome, house). In a smaller area with fewer options, like where we’re located in Columbia City, Indiana, you may want to leave these filters blank so you can see all the options available.
When you find a listing you’re interested in, click on it for more info. From the listing detail view, you’ll be able to save the property, learn more, and even message the poster to inquire about next steps.

Pro Tip: Create an Automated Alert!
The best feature Facebook Marketplace has when it comes to finding a place to live is their Notify Me option. This allows you to set your property filters and create an automated alert to notify you when new properties are added that match your specific criteria.

Here’s a step-by-step guide for how to create an automated alert for new properties on Facebook Marketplace:
Start by navigating to Facebook.com and logging in if you aren’t already.
Navigate to the Marketplace tab.
Navigate to the Property Rentals category.
Click the big blue button that says “Notify Me”.
You’ll see a modal pop up with all the filter options available to you. Make your selections here based on your preferred criteria.
Click “Create Alert” at the bottom right when your filters are ready.
That’s it! Facebook will automatically notify you when new properties are posted that match your filter criteria.
